Check out the rest of the series here. So in the past week, there have been some big movings and shakings, the Orange are off to a start, rising to 8 in the polls in the early season. Syracuse started the game off with a bang, Tommy DeVito come out with two completions on crossing routes and Moe Neal grabbing a first down on the ground, moving the Orange just outside the redzone.

From the yard line, DeVito dropped back and dumped a screen off to Neal who followed some solid blocking from Airon Servais , Dakota Davis and Evan Adams to basically walk into the endzone. After another Andre Szmyt touchback, the Orange were weathering a sustained drive from the Cobras, with the FCS side stringing together three first downs.

The drive was in a groove until their quarterback attempted to throw across the middle, to a waiting Lykeim Williams, who jumped the route for an interception and nineteen yard return. The first play back from the turnover, the Orange offense let it fly, with DeVito loosing a bomb to Taj Harris streaking down the sideline. The pass over the top of the coverage hit Harris in stride and hit paydirt, quickly putting the Orange up The mismatch continued, as FCS got the ball back and immediately turned it over to Evan Foster on a post route that he was underneath.

Foster was tackled immediately, but put the Orange in a good spot for a yard touchdown run by DeVito to end the quarter. Reading the end crash on the option, DeVito kept the ball and took off into a wide open lane on the weak side of the field.

The run was his longest on the year and his first rushing touchdown. The second quarter gave FCS Southeast a bit of a confidence boost, picking off Tommy DeVito twice, once on a bad read to the outside, and once on a Hail Mary to end the half. Thanks though kinda. Why are these teams even here though? Who are teams supposed to be playing in these weeks where they play FCS West or midwest, or south? FCS teams are cakewalk teams, meant for easy wins. Not always are they in real life for FBS teams, but for the most part they are scheduled so a team gets one victory closer to bowl eligible.

I was kind of shocked to see this question to be quite honest. Scheduling FCS teams hurts your schedule strength, which means it doesn't help your overall ranking for top 25 and such. BB code is On. Smilies are On.
