What is the difference between yahweh and god

Yahweh is the covenant-keeping name. God will never stop wanting us, and he will never cease in his pursuit of us. He is the ultimate covenant-keeper, the one who keeps his promises and does what he said he will do. We can trust God as much as we want and it will never be too much. He will always measure up. Only a mysterious God would ask us to know him as the God who is who he is. We worship a God of mystery, yet a God who is closer than our very breath. Yahweh is a paradox, one we will never reach the end of when it comes to our understanding of him.

There is simply too much of him to know fully in one lifetime! That should be our daily goal — to move one step closer to knowing the God who is. The richness and fullness of perfect love await anyone seeking to know the one who would do anything to have us. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name Exodus I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols Isaiah Therefore I will teach them - this time I will teach them my power and might.

He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns blackness into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land - the LORD is his name Amos The One who builds his upper chambers in the heavens and has founded his vaulted dome over the earth, he who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth, the Lord is his name Amos The name Jehovah or Yahweh is taken from the consonants of the divine name and the vowels for the Hebrew word for master "Adon.

Yahweh is the covenant-keeping name of God. When the creative aspect of God is recorded then the name Elohim is used Genesis 1. However when there is a relationship involved with humanity the name Yahweh is used Genesis 2.

These differences are consistent throughout the entire Old Testament. This is translated "the Lord God. This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place Genesis The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them Genesis The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying, 'To your descendants I will give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you will take a wife for my son from there Genesis This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations" Exodus O Lord God, you have begun to show your servant your greatness and your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours?

Deuteronomy Joshua said, "Alas, O Lord God, why did you ever bring this people over the Jordan, only to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us?

If only we had been willing to dwell beyond the Jordan" Joshua Now this man would go up from his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Shiloh 1 Samuel This combination occurs at times with reference to warfare. It occurs mostly when the nation Israel is in some type of crisis.

For example we read. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold Psalm Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory Psalm The primary idea behind, "hosts" is the angels but the name also refers to the divine power that is available to meet the need of the Lord's people. He is Yahweh only to those who have a relationship with Him.

The name Yahweh is used throughout the Old Testament with compound words that describe something of His character. He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you Exodus To this day it still stands at Ophrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites Judges The circumference of the city shall be eighteen thousand cubits.

There are also a number of the divine qualities or attributes of the Lord that is stressed. These include the following. El Shaddai speaks of God as a creator and nurturer, having given birth to creation and raising it up as a loving parent mother until it is mature enough for the child to begin learning his father's business Ex , Lu When creation was ready to learn its Father's business God introduced himself to Moses as Yahveh. This word is usually translated as "I Am" but because Hebrew has only 2 tenses, not 3, and the present and future are combined into one this name can also mean, "I Will Become" with the added connotation of "anything I please.

Literally, Yahveh became Jesus. Literally God is our salvation. All three names are names, not simply titles, and all three summarize a function God is performing in his creation at that point in time and shadad simply does not fit. Yahweh is also depicted as unchanging and One who assures the salvation of the faithful. Finally, because there is unity in the Trinity with the one God also being three persons, God can be described as the Father of Jesus.

Some scholars want to emphasize the similarities between Yahweh and Allah, and point to a common belief in a monotheistic God who is Creator of all things, omnipotent and merciful.

Both religions also claim that God has sent prophets to reveal His will and produce scriptures to guide our lives. However, Allah and Yahweh cannot refer to the same person for the following reasons. First of all, their attributes are different. Also, since his power is more important than his other attributes, there is an unequal emphasis on power over his other attributes.

In the end, a follower cannot know God or even be sure of the consistency of his attributes. On the other hand, because Yahweh is by nature a triune unity his attributes stem from his nature. The eternal relationship within the Trinity promotes love within the Godhead and extends to his creation. Also, since his attributes are based on his unchanging nature rather than his powerful will, all his attributes are equal and promote trustworthiness rather than capriciousness.
